The new game plan is taking shape nicely. I figured that at some point, as my game is a beat ’em up inspired affair, I’m going to have to pinch bits and pieces from the media – movies, TV shows, games…. There’s only so many times a punch can be called a punch, right? As long as I don’t include anything blatantly from something else. Saying “Yeah, I put in a big, sumo character that can slap, like, a hundred times” is no way to raise anything other than legal interest.
I’ll be looking at moves and thinking about what “level” of attack that would be, and what it will be named. It’s going to take some doing, but that is my plan for the week.
Recently, I have also come across a site that specialises in making games for a 30% cut of any sales – I personally would rather avoid this route. It seems good, sure, and it would fit my needs. But I want something more upstanding, and I had never heard of any of the games, or the site itself for that matter.
After receiving my graphics tablet a few days ago (thank you, fine creators of the Bamboo tablet!), I have realised that I have never really done much drawing work for years. I’ll probably need an artist at some point, or at least a decent paintshop program, but for now I think that practice would be best. Expect more doodles in the near future, folks!
There wil be more reviews popping up on the Mature Gamer Podcast site – eventually. I have one in the works already, and so we have that to look forward to. Well, I’ve already read it, but you guys might enjoy it too. Head on over to read more stuff what I did wrote.
As for the fiction writing… I’m thinking it might be best to write non-comittal stuff – fan fiction. Random mash-ups, most likely. As a confessed perfectionist, it’s difficult to get my thoughts together enough to be satisfied with my own writing…
Well, Internet – I guess it’s time to see what I can do.
