You read it here, folks – my project, Scrap Metal TCG is heading to MGPX, the Mature Gamer Podcast Expo, which is being hosted by fellow gamers at the Mature Gamer Podcast and a large number of forum members and a few other Indie developers are expected to show up and show off their projects too.
All in all, it’s actually rather exciting!
Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed my post count and my Twitter feed become eerily silent – this is not my abandonment of my Odd Gaming ways and giving up on developing games, I have just been a tad busy.
Since I was asked if there was a chance I could bring a prototype, I have been working round the clock (when not working my real job, eating, sleeping, drinking, procrastinating and generally suffering from mental block) at getting a prototype together. It’s harder than it seems, as I tend to go off on tangents when I start designing, and it’s hard to have to keep gravitating around a central point to continue working. It’s also difficult to design over 40 cards, get the wording and abilities right and get a rulebook written, but this is just showing me up as being lazy. I don’t mean to be, it’s just not something I was prepared for at this stage!
So, as mentioned, there are currently over 40 different cards, which should provide an ample prototype. All of them have had to be designed in black and white, for ease on my poor little home printer, and all images have been designed over the past 2-3 weeks, some in MS Paint and some using good ol’ fashioned autoshapes – my standard imaging process for a number of years.
I will be making notes, and hopefully I’ll be able to get a few first impressions that can be shared, along with some pictures. That’ll be lovely, won’t it?
I am also considering opening a cafepress store full of random designs and doodles – if this is something that you would be interested in, let me know. I may end up forgetting and not doing it, but if there is interest, I will definitely give it the go ahead.
That’s about all for now – next post will most likely be Sunday evening, after I have returned. Follow me on Twitter for any updates!
