Ok, to clarify first of all, this is not a review per sé, but I will be writing a review shortly for my friends over at the Mature Gamer Podcast. This is just a brief overview of my first impressions of the game.
So far, I am greatly enjoying the game. The monsters are as pleasing to the eye as always, and battles are kept fresh and interesting with the different animations in place; it’s only after playing this that I realise, looking back, how many times I’ve used a move and just seen my Pokémon sprite “wiggle” at the opponent. It represents an attack, sure, but in this day and age? The series is brilliant, don’t get me wrong, I’m just impressed with the progress that has been made.
The connectivity is amazing. It is 100% better than any other connectivity that has been implimented previously, and I have found myself catching random monsters just to trade via the Wonder Trade feature.
The storyline is as it always is, however – a mysterious organization that wants to become stronger an assume control of something. But let’s face it – no one plays Pokémon for the writing.
For my full review, keep an eye out – I hope to have it finished in the next few days. As anyone familiar with my site will know, life is busy, but I’ll get around to it as soon as possible.
