Hi everybody, Odd here once again.
So, it’s been a while since the last post. What’s been happening? Enjoying the sunshine? It is pretty nice, I guess. The view from my desk is superb, I can see all the way to the car park!
Since my last post, things have become a little more interesting. I have opened a YouTube channel (although I cannot remember the exact address – check my Twitter feed, I’ve listed it there somewhere), where I am planning on showing some Let’s Play style videos and showcasing a kind of “let’s render”, where I put together new parts for Scrap Metal TCG and record it (and speed it up, of course – the process can take upto 4 hours if I’m trying to do intricate work!). Currently, I have 3 videos available, two of them being for a Let’s Play that I’m not going to continue with, as I didn’t find the game interesting enough to ease me into the whole frame of mind (and it kind of shows, too). I will be starting with Dead Rising 2 soon!
Speaking of Scrap Metal TCG, I have recently had a few more of my infamous brainwaves, one of which I will implement, another which I am still considering. The one I will implement I’ll of course talk about, which is the rarity system.
It’s not uncommon for Trading Card Games to have a rarity system in place, in fact I can’t think of one that doesn’t have this set up. My way will be slightly different. Each card will have a number of different versions, which will affect the stats a small amount. My gaming goal, as it were, is to keep a balanced game that anyone can play at any skill level and still enjoy, so the bonuses will be small, but additional features may be implemented to certain cards by obtaining rarer versions. The rarity level will be marked on the cards, but also there will be a small palette swap, with a few colours being changed.
Think of a TCG that has the White>Green>Blue>Purple>Gold system. I’m not sure I can make that many changes, but I’m certainly looking to spice things up and improve customisation options. I imagine this would drive any prospective competitive players absolutely nuts with options. I guess we will see what becomes of everything soon, right?
